Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our global IT organization.
This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our enterprise database environments, primarily built on Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server platforms. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with strong analytical skills, deep technical knowledge of database systems, and experience managing performance in complex, multinational enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration
- Manage, monitor, and maintain Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases across production, test, and development environments.
- Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.
- Performance Management
- Continuously analyse and optimize database performance, query efficiency, and resource utilization.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend tuning strategies for databases, indexes, queries, and storage structures.
- Implement and maintain performance baselines and dashboards using performance management tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer, or equivalent platforms.
Data Integrity & Security
- Ensure data integrity, security, and availability through sound backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Support and enforce database access controls, encryption, and compliance with corporate IT and data governance policies.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with global application development and infrastructure teams to support
database design, deployment, and optimization. - Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for database-related incidents and performance issues.
Automation & Continuous Improvement- Develop scripts and tools to automate routine administrative tasks and monitoring.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and
maintainability of database systems. - Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator in large, multinational enterprise environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Strong experience with Oracle Database (versions 12c or higher) and Microsoft
SQL Server (2016 or higher). - Proven expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity management.
- Experience with database performance monitoring and analysis tools such as Oracle AWR, ADDM, OEM, SQL Profiler, or third-party solutions (e.g., SolarWinds, Redgate, Quest Foglight).
- Solid understanding of high availability, clustering, and replication technologies (RAC, Always On, etc.).
Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and documentation skills in English (required).
- Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional team environment.
- Certifications (Preferred)
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or SQL Server
